Posed question: What is world peace? And how can we achieve world peace?
Recently, my friends have been looking for ways to achieve world peace. Because all my friends are extremely different in personality (one's a liberal, one's a Social Darwinist, some are socialists, others conservatives, etc.), we couldn't even come up with an agreed definition for "world peace," so we couldn't base ideas off of a common belief.
So, I pose the exact same questions here.
How do we achieve world peace?
But here's the problem. What even is world peace? That was what my friends and I couldn't agree on. I asked my younger cousin, who was six, and she said, "a time when no one fights." Well, I kind of agreed. No war=peaceful, right? So let's say hypothetically today there were no wars, no mass shootings, no fights, no arguments, no bullying, no threats from other countries. But there were still people living in third world countries today. There were still people dying from various diseases in Africa because they had no money for health care today. There were still people who went to bed with empty bellies today. Would you call that a peaceful day? There was no fighting. But there was miserableness. Is that a "peaceful" day if you agree with my cousin's standards? Did we achieve world peace that day?
One of my friends believed that world peace meant everyone working to better their society. Well, then, in that case, let's say today everyone was working. Everyone was working at their jobs, however bad they were, and they were boosting their country's economy/society in some way. The janitors kept the facilities clean. The doctors healed the sick so they could work again. The engineers programmed devices so they could work and be sold. The Colombian gardeners worked their butts off the entire day today in their pesticide-infected greenhouses to cut flowers to sell. Et cetera. There's still miserableness in the world, but hey, the majority of society got better. Is that a "peaceful" day? Did we achieve one day of world peace that day? What even is bettering your society?
So here's the question I pose to all of you, once again. What is your definition of world peace? And how do we achieve it?
